I just can't take the pull of the computer anymore. I don't like that it's on all day and I feel like I need to check it every 20 minutes for a new email message or a new blog post. I plan to take one hour each day and do my email/blog thing and then be done. So that's what I'm doing, we'll see how long it lasts. Good bye internet for today...until, that is, I need to buy some plane tickets this evening.
Who's with me on this? Anyone feel like the pull of the computer drains them? Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm taking a break regardless.

I hear you! And I like your resolve. Would it be too much to ask if I jump on this bandwagon? Check up on me, will you? I'll be giving this a go.
The call of the computer is a siren song, constantly beckoning. Good for you.
I made that resolve a few years ago, but it's always so easy to find a reason to learn something, or check emails. Sometimes I leave emails minimized so I can see if any new ones came. Now people are always looking at their phones or their ipads or whatevers-because they have internet on them so when you are with people you aren't!
I had to do this as well. Now I only have the computer on when Jeff is home for just long enough to check my email and about three blogs... your's being one of them. :)
indeed, this is a good and sometimes necessary self-proclaimed kibosh. here's a tip that worked pretty well for me... set a timer. best of luck and here's to all the great stuff you do when you're not on the computer!
p.s. do video chats count as computer time?
I'm totally with you. I had to ban myself for a while so I could focus on the kids a little more. Having an iPhone only makes it harder. I have to make exceptions if I need to get stuff done but I'm trying to cut back on the aimless surfing (Pinterest is addictive I tell you - check it out!).
